Heritage & Rare Breed Poultry Shop

Hatching Eggs | Chicks | Coop Ready Pullets | Point of Lay Hens

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

All poultry sales on this are considered pre-orders for future stock.

When you order chicks you are ordering for the next available hatch of those chicks.

When you order coop ready pullets or point of lay hens you are ordering for them to be hatched then grown out for you by us until they are of the desired maturation.

Indication of stock on hand does not mean we necessarily have those available at this time. when you pay for an order we will add you to our hatch schedule and let you you know when to expect them.

We do often have stock on hand as we aim to over hatch as much as possible to be able to meet orders. When this happens we are more than happy to sell what we do have available that has not already been arranged for.

Pricing for coop ready or point of lay considers all the feed and effort put in by us so you don’t have to worry about brooding chicks to this age. It also allows you to specify hens rather than deal with the possibilities of getting roosters, as most chicks are sold straight run. It also takes into account the rarity of some of the breeds we offer. These are not breeds you are likely to see at your local farm store.

We have minimum orders for the good of the chickens. Whether we are shipping or you are picking up locally we want both your experience and the wellbeing of the chickens to be maintained.

The maximum that can be shipped in a single shipping order is 16 chicks(12 in cold), 3 pullets, (2 minimum)

Like minimum orders we have maximum orders for specific breeds. We need to control how many we can produce based off several factors such as how many productive layers and subsequent eggs we can gather within a reasonable time-frame to place into incubation. This will vary for different breeding groups and change from time to time.

Not all breeds may be available to be included in the same order on the same hatch date depending on pre-existing orders. It is best to call ahead before ordering to be sure we can do this. 385.350.2787

55 Flowery Hen

55 Flowery Hen

55 Flowery Hen is the bell of the ball with its unique flowery plumage on display!

This unique autosexing breed was developed in Sweden, and the hens lay very large eggs for their body size. 55 Flowery Hens are truly prolific layers, and the color is a beautiful pearl white, complimenting, and standing out amongst the variety of colors we have here on the farm at Nickelbeak Hollow. For dependable consistency of laying fresh eggs for you and your family, the Fifty-Five Flowery Hen is magnificent. This wonderful breed is excellent at foraging and will happily spend most of their day scratching around for bugs and worms. The roosters are good protectors of the hens and normally not aggressive to people. This breed does sometimes need to be herded back into the coop at sundown.

A rare and captivating addition to the world of poultry that transcends the ordinary. Descendants of a rich heritage that spans South America and the Spanish Isles, these chickens are not just feathered companions; they are living relics of a unique and vibrant history.

Originating from the windswept Shetland Isles, the Tappit Shetlands owe their existence to the tireless efforts of the Isbisters of Trondra. These charming chickens boast a distinctive appearance with tufted crowns, a testament to a mutation in South American hens that occurred long before the Spanish conquests. The blue-green egg coloring is a nod to the Spanish influence in their genetics, making them not only visually striking but also a conversation starter in any poultry enthusiast’s flock.

With only approximately three dozen purebred Tappit Shetland Hens left on the isle, these chicks are a precious rarity that deserves recognition and preservation.
